Track & Field & Cross Country Teams
Join us for a unique Track and Field program that culminates with a Track and Field Meet
This program puts emphasis on skill development and sportsmanship. Athletes ages 4-12 who are are looking to improve running technique and coordination in the Track & Field events, or gain endurance for another sport, this is for you!
Athletes will spend 7 weeks, working on technique and training for up to three events and compete for their Center YMCA Team in two dual meets and at the seasonal Track & Field Meet featuring athletes from YMCA’s throughout greater Indianapolis.
Events include relays, dashes, modified shot put, javelin, and long jump.
Youth Cross Country
Participants will work on running and stride techniques, training strategies and efficiency
The YMCA cross country program emphasizes skill development and sportsmanship. Athletes will spend a 7 week season developing a training base and progressing to temp training, hills, and speed work. Athletes will learn race strategy, sportsmanship and running safety.
Cross country athletes compete for their Center YMCA Team in two mini meets leading up to the YMCA Cross Country Meet in October. Athletes from YMCA’s throughout greater Indianapolis will compete.
