Youth Empowerment Programs

The YMCA offers a variety of specialty classes, programs and services for teens to help them give back, read ahead, work out, learn a new skill and meet friends.

Indiana YMCA Youth and Government

Youth in grades 9 – 12 connect with peers from around the state, while learning how to influence change on social and political issues of personal importance to them.

Participants also firm up their understanding of how their governments work, then they learn how to make their governments work for them.

Participants can participate in meetings at either Hendricks Regional Health YMCA or Avondale Meadows YMCA.

$25 deposit at the time of registration

Please welcome a presentation from InvestED! We teach our students the benefits of obtaining a college education, but are we showing them ways to afford college. Of course, this comes with a spin, students and parents will spend the last hour playing Family Feud- InvestED addition. This is a great way to show us what you have learned while engaging with one another through friendly competition.

Calling all high school students that are interested in TikToking their way through budgeting for their future! Budgeting shouldn’t be ignored! Apart of the financial literacy is being discipline and making smart decisions with money. With today’s accessibility to apps such as Cash App and PayPal, overspending isn’t hard to do as you are unable to see what is leaving your bank account. During this workshop, students will receive a presentation on budgeting, activities, group discussions, snacks, and of course a few TikTok challenges along the way!

Young Men of Distinction (YMOD), is a experiential learning program geared towards middle school boys. This highly interactive program curriculum is designed to include character & leadership development, entrepreneurship education, career and post-secondary exploration and social emotional wellness activities.
We empower our young men; helping them understand their power of choice, which enables them to make the best use of the tools available to them. “A Boys and Young Men of Color (BYMOC) Initiative” The BYMOC Initiative is about the YMCA investing in boys of color, to improve their well-being and pave a pathway to success for them. SATURDAY SERIES INCLUDES: Creation Sessions • Guest Speakers Leadership Development • Life Skills Rec Time • Post-secondary & Career Exposure • Financial Literacy Service Learning • Mentoring Experiential Trips
